Nurses Role and Function

NURSE DEFINITION:

nurses are those who have the ability and authority to take action based on his knowledge of nursing obtained through nursing education.
    
Taylor C. Lillis C. Lemone (1989)
    
defines a nurse is a person who plays a role in treating or maintain, helping to protect against illness, injury and aging.
    
ICN (International Council of Nursing), 1965,
    
nurse is someone who has completed a qualified nursing education in the country as well as the authorities concerned to provide nursing services that are responsible for improving the health, disease prevention and care of sick people.
    
Ministry of Health Decree No. 1239/MenKes/SK/XI/2001 of Registration and Practice Nurses, in article 1, paragraph 1, which reads
    
"The nurse is someone who has graduated nurse education both at home and abroad in accordance with the provisions of applicable laws and regulations".
One can be said as a nurse and has responsibility as a nurse when can prove that he has completed a nursing education either outside or inside the country is usually evidenced by a diploma or certificate of graduation.In other words, the so-called nurse instead of hereditary skill, but rather by means of nurse education.
ROLE OF THE NURSEDefinition:The role of nurse is expected behavior by others on a person in accordance with the position in the system, which can be influenced by social circumstances of both the nursing profession and outside the nursing profession which is constant.

Giving nursing care

FUNCTION NURSEDefinition:Function is the work performed in accordance with the role. Function can be adjusted to change the existing situation.
Nurse functions:

    
Independent Functions
        
In this function, the act does not require the doctor nurse.
        
Nurses action is independent, based on the science of nursing.
        
Nurses are responsible for the consequences of actions taken
        
Example: assessing the
    
Function Dependent
        
Nurses help doctors provide treatment and specific actions that the authority of the doctor and the doctor should have been done, such as infusion, medication and perform injections.
        
Therefore, any failure of medical treatment is the responsibility of doctors
    
Interdependent functions
        
Nursing actions based on working with the health care team or teams.
        
Example: to deal with pregnant women who suffer from diabetes, nutrition nurses collaborate with workers making plans to determine the needs of the food needed for the mother and the developing fetus.
DUTY NURSEDuties of nurses in their role as provider of nursing care can be carried out according to the stages in the nursing process. Duty nurses agreed in the workshop in 1983 based on the function of the nurse in providing nursing care are as follows:
NURSE RESPONSIBILITY

    
The definition of responsibility (Responsibility) by Barbara Kozier, 1983:
    
The responsibility of nurses means a state that is trustworthy and reliable. This designation indicates that the professional nurse showing performance carefully, accurately and honestly reported activities of nurses
    
The definition of responsibility according to ANA, 1985:
    
Responsibility is: The application of the law (execution) of the tasks associated with a particular role of the nurse, in order to remain competent in the knowledge, attitude and work according to the code of ethics (ANA, 1985).
    
Responsibility according to conflicting definitions, (1993):
    
Responsibility: Necessity someone as rational beings and are free to dodge and give an explanation of his actions, the retrosfektif or prospectively (Bertens, 1993:133)

 
Some ways in which nurses can communicate responsibilities:

    
Delivering care and respect for the client (sincere intereset)
    
When the nurse was forced to suspend services, the nurses are willing to provide their clients with a friendly explanation (explanantion about the delay).
    
Demonstrate to clients respect (respect) shown by the behavior of nurses. For example, say hello, smiled, bowed, shook hands and so on.
    
Talk to the client-oriented client's feelings (subjects the patiens desires) rather than on the interests or desires nurse.
    
Do not discuss other clients in front of the patient with the intention of insulting (derogatory).
    
Receiving critical attitude of clients and try to understand the client in the client's perspective (see the patient point of view).
TYPE OF LIABILITY NURSE:
Responsibility (Responsibility) nurses can be identified as follows:

    
Responsibility to God (the primary responsibility of the Lord)
    
Responsibility to Client and Society (responsibility towards clients and the community)
    
Responsibility to Colleague and Supervisor (responsibility towards colleagues and superiors)
